Born in Sussex I studied Foreign languages at Brighton Grammar School and went on to work in communications for the Post Office (BT) in London.
I moved up to Yorkshire in 1965 and then to Lancashire in 1969, where most of my working life was spent providing 2 way radio systems to the Emergency Services.
Since retiring a few years ago I became very involved with Rotary International as Public Relations Officer and held the position of President twice.
Married with four children and six grandchildren I am now enjoying living in Whittle le Woods with my wife June.
I have always been an avid reader, enjoying detective novels, and also taking great interest in current affairs, following local, national and international matters with interest.
I hope to be able to make a positive contribution to the Council for a long time into the future.
Hi my name is Wendy McDonald and I've been on Whittle-le-Woods Parish Council for the past 3 years and hopefully many more to come.
I'm married and have 3 children, 2 boys aged 15 and 19 and a daughter aged 21. I enjoy being an active member of the council helping to organise activities for our young people and helping alongside other councillors to provide a range of activities for other ages to.
I have lived in the parish all my 43 years ( and many more to come) and love this village. We are very lucky to be so close to the countryside yet the benefits of our growing community.
The great thing about this village is its friendly people, you can guarantee that you will always get a hello as you walk around. My day job is a Teaching Assistant at Manor Road Primary School, currently in Reception Class. I'm passionate about my job and thoroughly enjoy it. When I'm not working I really like being outside and enjoy lots of walking around the area with my family and dog.
Also I go to Pilates, Aerobics and enjoy socialising in the local pubs. A few years ago now I set up a Facebook group to promote community spirit and provide somewhere to chat with others in the village about the past and present, it seems to be doing its job. Hello, I'm Lisa Pickering. I grew up and now live locally in Bamber Bridge. My father’s family hail from Whittle, Brindle and surrounding areas - I spent many happy days playing in the fields around Gough Lane where my Grandparents lived, and at Tullis Farm in Brindle - worked for many years by the Burton family. I look forward to speaking with many of you in the future and supporting the many initiatives run by the Parish Council for your community.
