Whittle-le-Woods Parish Council erect a Christmas tree on the Waterhouse Green traffic island each year. In recent years, though, this has become more than just a switch on - it has become a proper local Christmas event! Lights, refreshments and the switch on ceremony will take place annually some time around the first Saturday of December, with the lights remaining lit until the first Saturday in January.

Watch out for posters on noticeboards and in other locations around the village to give you year-by-year specific Christmas information, and join us for music and carols, mulled wine and a wonderful family atmosphere - whatever the weather.

Annual event organised by the village hall:

Each August Whittle-le-Woods hosts a Flower, Craft and Vegetable Show, held at the village hall on Union Street.

With prizes awarded for entries in a large number of classes, there's fun to be had for the whole family.  All the class details are set out in the schedule which is made available a few weeks prior to the show.  Your entry paper needs to be returned to the show manager by the Wednesday before the Saturday of the show.  Staging of your exhibits takes place on the morning of the show, and the hall opens at 2pm for the public to view the exhibits.

There are points awarded to the top three exhibits in each class and there are several trophies that are awarded at 3pm. It is a great opportunity for residents to show off their labours and is a good way to get into entering produce shows.

Here are a few images from previous years - we hope they inspire you to get growing for next year's show!
